Social media pages vs actual website

"When talking to 1000 social media users about how they felt about liking brands on Facebook, market research firm Lab42 found that 50% of them said that the Facebook page is more useful than the website."

When I think about how many websites I visit on daily basis, it's not a lot.  But, when I think about how many 'pages' I visit through Facebook or even through Twitter, I can name five off the top of my head.  I go to these pages for the deals, for the coupons and for the interaction between the customers and the companies.  They are more interesting than the actual websites.

I never really thought of this as an issue though. Companies spend moneyon website designs and to keep it up to date, meanwhile, people are frequenting their websites less and less and just going straight to the social media pages.  Those pages give them everything they are looking for; promotions, giveaways and engagement.  I think businesses are going to start to realize they need to change their websites... and not just by adding the Facebook and Twitter buttons at the bottom of each page.

Companies need to change the way their websites work.  They need to make them more interactive and buyer-friendly.  The article says to incorporate a blog and a resources page, I agree completely.  Get people reading the blog and commenting, even throw giveaways in blog posts.  Companies need to make the websites almost as interactive as their social media sites, combine the two and it will shine the light on the company even more.

Stop making your websites appear like they are just there to sell your products. Make the website about your customers who inturn will make your products about them.

Facebook Pages Better than the Websites? Fans think so.
