Plains, Trains and Applications

Social media has definitely made its mark and redefined the way people have conducted businesses in the last few years. The ideas that once seemed impossible have become a part of our technological society. The possibilities are endless and will continue to grow well beyond our own years.

With technology on the rise, more and more people are turning to smartphones to accomplish daily tasks that once seemed rigorous. Now, the typical smartphone user can rush to the airport and suddenly realize she has forgotten to check in. Don't worry, there's an app for that.

Technology has certainly enhanced the traveling experience for many in more ways than one. According to an article featured on mashable.com, 29% of smartphone users have used mobile apps to find deals for flights. Sites like expedia.com, travelocity.com and priceline.com are the first web sites potential travelers visit to plan for vacations. 30% use mobile apps to find hotel rates and 15% download mobile apps to specifically fit his or her vacation.

Both the everyday traveler and travel industries, such as hotels, are benefitting from the smartphone era. 46% of users post hotel reviews, most likely attracting potential clients depending on the user's experience. The avid traveler is more than likely to update his or her Facebook status on a daily basis using a smartphone. We have been fortunate enough to see what technology is capable of right before our very eyes. All there is left to do is sit back and await new technological developments.

Happy travels!
